Absolute Poker Review

Absolute Poker is one of the first and largest poker rooms around. Established in 2001 with over 18,000 poker players playing at peak hours, allows Absolute poker referrals to easily refer new members. AbsolutePoker is one of the few poker rooms that allow US players to still use their poker service. There are a few other poker rooms that share traffic with Absolute, such as VegasPoker247.

Absolute Poker offers a large variety of games for rings and tournament play: limit, no-limit, and pot-limit Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, and the rapidly growing Razz.

Most of the players at Absolute play low mid stakes no-limit holdem. Since the addition of the bad beat jackpot the traffic to Absolute has increased tremendously. Absolute poker does not run as many high stakes games that I would like to see but they do run 10/20 tables. Absolute poker also offers mostly low stakes Omaha/Stud tables as well. For each raked hand (minimum rake of $0.50) you play and reach the flop you will receive 1 point. You will also receive 1 point for each $1 of tournament buy-in fee, rounded up to the closest whole number.

Absolute Poker offers sit & go traffic much like their ring game traffic. Most of the games being played are in the low-mid rang ($10-$40). Absolutes most popular games are their regular 9 player Holdem, with the 6 max being the close second. For some reason Absolute does not offer any turbo SNGs, they are just regular 10 minute blinds.

Absolute is not really known for their multi-table tournaments, but they are still getting huge. There are many daily tournaments guaranteed, their weekend special tournaments total over $220,000 guaranteed. Absolute does offer some of its popular MTTs which are the $100,000 Pro bounty every wednesday, the buyin is large, around $1050, and have anything from their $1000 guaranteed to $1 rebuy to their $17, 000 guaranteed $30 rebuy.  The weekly tournaments are also growing, they just raised the prize pool to $150,000 on Saturday and $70,000 on Sunday.

Earn Points at Absolute Poker

When you play for real money at Absolute Poker tournaments, you will earn points for their Absolute rewards program. Points are awarded a little differently than most poker sites do. Absolute poker awards points by Pot Size, not by rake. For example, Every $0.40 in the final pot, 0.1 reward points are distributed among those players that contributed to the pot. They also award 0.1 points for every $0.40 in tournament buyins, not including rake. These points can be used for special tournaments or to purchase items in their poker store, which include poker books, clothing, electronics, etc.
